I pressed like shit today.

Snatched up to 225lbs, missed the snatch from the below-the-knee hang.

C+jed up to 295lbs though.

Back squat up to an easy 425lbs x 1, finished up with some PR weighted ring-dips at +95lbs x 3 followed by +100lbs x 3, probably because my tris and delts were not tired from a lot of volume with the pressing, and also probably because I fucking weigh 156lbs.

I trained real stupid early on. Like, legit, the first year of my oly training I trained Bulgarian i.e. 6 days a week, 2x a day, max out sn. and c+j, though I did do a TM-themed program on top of that with 5×5 squats Monday, 3×3 front squats Wed, and a 5rm on Friday.

I would never recommend someone train the way I did when I first started lifting.

I would say, hey man, squat like 2x a week. Deadlift 1x a week. Press and bench 2-3x a week. Do pull ups and chin ups, do some bodybuilding. If you want to do the oly lifts, do those like 3x a week. Make mobility a part of your day and hit like 2-3 different mobs a day, especially if you have problem areas. Eat a lot of animal protein. I’m not gonna say go Paleo but if that is something you can adhere to that’d be pretty good, otherwise cooking the majority of what you eat and avoiding grains when possible will prob make you feel pretty good. Cmoney if you have a problem with this would you kindly get fucked. Anyways that’s about all I got. I’ll talk to ya here in a little bit.

  5. listen dickless, I’m just saying unless you have some sort of gluten/grain allergy, then if you have a bit of rice or pasta in the meals leading up to your training, you’ll probably have a better training session. Potatoes are OK too but sometimes if I have a pot roast type meal too soon before the workout I feel a little bogged down.

    And if you’re one of those paleo clowns who are like “oh well yeah sweet potatoes are totally paleo” then just think about it a bit and realize what a fucking scam the entire thing is.

    I’ll be at the Arnold too, but I’m not likely to hang out. A fat guy making fun of paleo will likely get bullied by this crowd.

          grains are pushed pretty hard in medicine and popular dieting stuff

          it’s difficult to adapt to something like Paleo if you’ve been eating rice, pasta, sandwiches, etc. your whole life

          really, any specific way of dieting is a “lifestyle,” you actively make decisions to avoid foods or ways of eating that typically you wouldn’t think about and this is a 24/7 mindset that you have to develop and ingrain

    Tuesday- Snatch, CJ
    Thursday-Snatch, CJ
    Friday- Squat, Bench, Pull ups
    Sat- Snatch, CJ

    What would you recommend rep ranges be?

    • Squat 2’s and 1’s
      Press 1’s
      Deadlift 1’s
      Snatch CJ 1’s
      Bench 3’s and 1’s
      Pull-up 5’s and 3’s

      This is just for strength though. Dips are an important part of this program they’d be done for 2’s and 1’s.

      • When Brent wants to gain size he does higher reps than this. He’s not on board with pressing 1’s since he has a bet to win that requires him to do a double in 11 months with 40lbs over his current max.

        Since he generally wants a large chest and delts he uses 5’s on bench and press often, this works better for bench strength gains than with the press though.
