Mikhail Koklyaev Is A Monster

Mikhail Koklyaev is an impressive human being. He is crazy strong in every lift you can think of, powerlifting and Olympic weightlifting. Watch the following demonstration where he does a 270kg behind-the-neck jerk, deadlifts 400kg for a triple, does a 290kg NO HAND squat, and a 190kg snatch. Egad.

His best snatch is 210kg and his best clean and jerk is 250kg. Those numbers would put him among the best in the world in the super heavyweight category, and if he trained the lifts exclusively he probably could win a gold medal. Look at this video of him push pressing 220kg (to clarify, that’s 484 lbs.):

He also has some pretty damn good powerlifting numbers. His bests are a 365kg squat, a 240kg bench, and a 415kg deadlift — all raw. In pounds that is 803, 528, and 913! He could be a top contender in powerlifting too! Here is a video of him deadlifting 415kg:

Koklyaev is a good strongman competitor — he finished on the podium for all the IFSA World Championships and has done well at the Arnold Strongman Classic (5 finishes in the top 5) and has won a lot of Strongman Champions League in Russia. Plus, he’s got some other skills. You can see more of Koklyaev’s domination of the iron at his YouTube channel.

  1. I like Mikhail Koklyaev, he comes to uk a lot and does exhibitions of his strength.

People always comment on how nice he is.

If you look on his youtube account he has a few humourous clips when he does a lot of singing and dancing – one of them in a kilt and bagpipes.

Apparantly he was on the russian oly team and got a bronze in one of the olympics or world championships. He got in a dispute with a coach i think and got kicked off the team.

He since made the transition into all these other sport, and even holds a record in highland games i believe.

In all honesty, in my opinion, i don’t think he could do well in the olympics. Not because of his lifts, but i am not sure if he could pass the drug tests.

  2. Misha is absolutely one of the greatest guys in strongman. I’ve competed with him at the 2007 IFSA championships and in Strongman Champions League. Everytime he was funny, helpful, and strong as hell.

I believe his HG record is in the weight for height.

  3. Koklyaev is this generation’s Kazmaier or Paul Anderson. Simply among the best in any strength endeavor he chooses to partake in (well, I guess Kaz didn’t do oly lifting but I’ll bet he could have pwned in that, too). He is just an all-around behemoth.

BTW, I was there at the Arnold when he did a 500lb clean+jerk to commemorate Alexeyev’s being the first to do it 30 years prior. I know for a fact he had been getting wasted off his ass the night before and was probably still reaking of Vodka when he did the attempt. He missed it the first time (barely) but then made it with ease. Now THAT’S a freak!

  4. He’s like a silver back gorilla meets your grandmother. Super nice dude who would probably bake you something epic, but in the event you don’t like it, can rip your arms off and beat you to death with them.
