The late post is due to work being done on the site to prep it for some new features that will be revealed soon. As for today, we have business to tend to.

1. Thank you for all of the replies about the t-shirt help. I will be in contact with some of you within a day or two. We are finalizing two new t-shirt ideas, and a twist on the old one.

Update:

2. Josh Wells and I are starting a new program at the Wichita Falls Athletic Club in which we will be offering weekend training packages. This will include 5 training sessions — two on Friday, two on Saturday, and one on Sunday morning. The first weekend we will be offering this is April 9th, 10th, and 11th. The price is set at $275 and will include ten hours of coached training by Josh and I as well as whatever lecture, observation, and experiences go along with hanging out at the WFAC for the weekend. You will see some of our own lifters training, you will undoubtedly interact with the infamous Rippetoe, and you will bathe in the glory that is Wichita Falls, Texas. This training package is capped at 10 people, and we expect it to fill up fast, so if you are interested, e-mail me ASAP.

The emphasis of training will depend on the experience level of who is signed up, but we plan on going through all of the major barbell lifts: squat, press, deadlift, bench press, snatch, and clean and jerk. Assistance exercises such as the halting deadlift, rack pull, jerk lockouts, etc. may be included upon request or necessity. E-mail if you have any questions.

  1. I was about to say, shit got so real with the “Zach Issue”, that it has negatively impacted our daily dose of 70sBig.com. Not good.

Nah, not hampering the posts. Me getting busy on other projects is hampering the posts. Back on track for Thurs/Fri.

  3. I need some advice.

I ordered some 2010 Pendlay weightlifting shoes from muscle driver about two months ago. I have a big foot so I ordered a 13.5. These were too big. Sent them back for size 13. These were also too big. Sent them back for a 12.5. Got the 12.5′’s today. I fear these may be too big as well.

This most recent pair leaves about 1/2 to 5/8 (width of my big thumb) of space between my toes and the tip of the shoes.

Is it normal for there to be this much space? If I go down a size will the shoes be too small? I am so sick of waiting to lift in a good pair of shoes. What do you guys suggest?

  4. Capt Ronn,
Does the shoe feel secure when it is laced and strapped up? Also, I think a little room in the toe area would be desirable, because the foot probably flattens out a little bit when under an appreciable load as it would be when barbell training. Im just guessing on this so dont hold me to it. And what size shoe do you normally wear? Im assuming the shoes you got from muscle driver are Do-Wins? Everyone that I know that has Do-Wins has had pretty good luck ordering them one size smaller than their normal tennis shoe size. Granted this isnt a huge sample size, about 7 people. Anyways, if your foot feels secure and stable and isnt sliding around, I would think that you””d be OK.

I have some play in my shoes, and it is not a good thing when Olympic lifting, particularly when I split for my jerk. I have had to wear two pairs of socks for the last 5 months or so. The shoes were fine when I was only squatting, pressing, deadlifting, and power cleaning, but once I started splitting, it was a pain in the ass.

  5. My shoe size? Depends on the shoe. Sometimes 12 sometimes 13. I wear a size 13 new balance. I read somewhere that for a shoe like a new balance order a half size larger (I may have misread this). So I got a 13.5.

My only concern is with dynamic lifts like cleans and other oly stuff. I don”t know whether that extra 1/2 inch of shoe will have any effect.

If I send these shoes back total shipping charges will be damn near the cost of the shoes themselves.

  6. Damn it to hell! The weekend program sounds great and I will come from Alabama on any weekend other than damn April 9-11. Keep us posted. Thanks.

It depends on how the first one goes.
