ANZAC Day is the Australian and Newzealand Army Corps day of of remembrance to their military personnel. It honors the military personnel who have served or given their lives to obtain or maintain freedom; an honorable holiday for any free country. To all of my Aussie mates: may your Two-Up be lucky and your Ode of Remembrance cherished.

Thanks mate. Heading to a dawn service at all?
Have a schooner of VB or 10. You won’t like it, but you’ll always remember it.
Thanks, Justin. ANZAC Day is always a special day.
To all the diggers out there, stay safe and hopefully you get to have a cold beer at some stage.
“They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old,
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning,
We will remember them.”
Lest we forget.
ah, didn’t realise you were still in country!
If you have a mind to, definitely check out a dawn service – you won’t regret it.
I lived in Ireland for a few years with a group of expat Aussies and Kiwis.
I was dating a kiwi girl on an expired work visa, but it was really important to her to visit Galipoli for ANZAC day, so she risked the trip.
The trip was great, the dawn service was moving, and everything seemed to go off without a hitch…until they tried to change flights in London to come home, were stopped deported. True story. Now I’m back in Canada and have two things to commemorate on Apr 25.
Interesting bit of history for the American readers: 60,000 Australians served alongside us in Vietnam, with 521 dead and 3,000 wounded. (http://www.awm.gov.au/atwar/vietnam.asp).
