PR Friday

Things came up; quick post today. Hopefully your training went well this week. Let us know in the comments, and be sure to note your PR’s!

Additionally, here are some things we can discuss throughout the weekend:

Are you bothered by steroid use?

What’s your favorite meal you’ve had in March?

What’s the most 70’s Big book? Movie? Song?

    Bench 117,5 kg (~259 lbs) x3 (4th rep=failed)
    Deadlift 195 kg (~430 lbs) x3

BW: 93,5 kg (~206 lbs), currently on Texas Method.

Not really pleased this week – very slow progress on intensity days lately and my form is breaking down. I think a reset may be in order.

I´m bothered with steroid use in the sense that it creates confusion about what can be achieved drug-free. It pisses me off that so many (90´s small-)people use them prematurely, but I don’t have a problem when professional athletes do it because they are paid to be bigger and stronger than others, as StillGrowing said.

Favorite meal in March: My GF and I made Köttbullar (traditional Swedish dish) yesterday, was pretty good. It looked like this:

70′s Big book: The Song of the Nibelungs

    Movie: The 13th Warrior

    Song: Iron Man (Black Sabbath)

To me it matters about two fifths of fuck all as long as people are honest about it. If you want to drop dbol every day like the shrug thug then so be it.

I did a 32mile hike over the weekend. It ended with about 500 steps. It started raining at the base of these steps. 15 minutes after these steps had finished I was tucking in to a roast beef sandwich with gravy. It’s up there for Top Meal of the Year, let alone March.

  3. Steroids: Don’t care. Live and let live.
Meal: Giant burgers on the grill last weekend.
    Song: Prodigy – Diesel Power
    Movie: Die Hard Trilogy

    PRs:
    FS 3x5x185lb
    BN 3x5x155
    OHP 3x4x85
    Weight: 183lb

Found a new gym to train at in MSP that is 24/7, has good bars, platforms, plates, and general awesomeness. This will help a lot.

Hopefully back to back squatting/deadlifting this week now that I’m (mostly) healed up.

  4. Steroids? The main problem I have with ’em is that as they are illegal, everyone is hush-hush with a wink and a nod, but no honesty about it. At least viagra users don’t claim to just be “more manly”, making everyone else feel like a loser for a less-than-3-hour woody.

  5. I topped out at 195 on the C&J, a jerk from the rack at 240, with a 3RM thruster at 185, and body weight is up to 206 from 195 (thanks to tubs of chicken thighs and gallons of milk).

70s Big movie: Big Trouble in Little China

Of course they’re going to be hush-hush about an ILLEGAL substance. Would you be honest and speak openly, possibly in the unknowing presence of law enforcement agents, about using heroin? It’s the same principle.

Bear in mind that my comment is completely unrelated to whether they should be legal.

  7. Competed in my first Highland Games. Took 3rd at the Iron Thistle Highland Games in Yukon, OK on Sunday. Currently ranked 9th in NASGA Amateur Class C.
