Women Are Strong

I’m working on those “other projects”, and this post seemed extremely relevant. Courtney is 5’2″, 125 lbs, is from Reston, VA, and can deadlifted 332lbs. As they say around the interwebz, that’s “mega hawt”. Her goals for this year are to deadlift 350 and squat 275.

Here’s a video of her doing a 290 pound sled drag. She had 135 lbs. in bumpers on there, but it wasn’t heavy enough so her friend jumped on to make it 290. No big deal.

What we have here is a cute girl who deadlifts over 300 pounds, and wants to deadlift and squat more. Courtney said in her e-mail,

I hope you will share this on your site as I work to show women just how much fun strength training can be! Hopefully I will be making those lift goals in no time :)

Yes it’s true; stronger women are the best.

What have I got to say to those of you who aren’t significantly stronger than this girl? Step up your game, son.

  1. AWESOME!

Thank you so much Justin, for posting this, and Courtney, for DOING IT. You are totally an inspiration to keep going and stick with it.

    Thanks so much!

By my calculations, this schmuck Joe only weighs 155…

  4. I love it! I’m going to show this to any girl who tells me she is afraid she’s going to get “bulky.” Show me the bulk on Courtney.

Courtney, thanks for working hard and disproving myths that are holding women back in training and health.

  5. That’s a very impressive feat of strength! If Courtney is watching and doesn’t mind sharing, what gym is that? I’m near Reston and sort of looking around for a more strength-oriented gym.

  6. Maslow- Fitness First Tyson’s Corner. That’s where me and my SO go, and they have a ton of strength stuff, a ton of powerlifters, a good smattering of bodybuilders, everyone who works there is awesome, the PT director is an amazing strength coach… need I say more?

Also supposedly we were going to have a 70s Big seminar there but Justin never got back to us about it HINT HINT HINT

  7. ^ That is a solid pull

I was feeling “reckless” today. It was light day for TM, so instead of squatting 315x5x2, I thought thought 315×15 was more appropriate.
    Nailed it.

  8. @Courtney (if she posts on here): Very badass. Can I ask what your weight is?

    @MKINGW: Yes. Just…yes.

@DCROOKS: I feel like that is the true definition of how to utilize recklessness.

  9. Girls who deadlift and pull sleds rock.
Guys who weigh 155lbs and sit on the sled for the girl, not so much.
    Drink some milk man.
Kudos to Courtney and granny hardass in that video from @smithb9.

@smithb9 where do you train in Boston?

  10. @CBOS

we train at TPS (total performance sports) in Everett. Just outside the city, and pretty easy to get to via driving or the T.

send me an email for more info if you want: smithb9 at gmail.
