PR Friday, Videos, etc.

PR Friday

State your PR’s or update us on your training. Feel free to ask questions, I’ll check them throughout today. Also if there are specific topics you’d like to hear about, I can do my best to write about them.

Videos

The first video shows Chris squatting 500×10 — YEAH BUUUUUUDYYYYYYYY! Brent has already chastised Mike for his camera work, so I won’t do it here. He moves behind Chris towards the end of the set to spot him.

The second video is Mike squatting 430×10 in time period where he’s cutting weight for a PT test. Chris doesn’t say much; he must be tired from his set. Good lifting, fellas.

Do you have a video of you hitting some PR’s in a good training environment? Send them to Justin@70sbig.com.

Edit: There may be some additions to this post throughout the day. You can also see more at the 70’s Big Facebook page.

I did use the hook grip. My thumbs were on fire though. I don’t know if my hands are large enough. But i know i pulled the weight fine other than the pain. Does that thumb pain go away?

Chris doesn’t have any, but I don’t know if he ever did.

  3. @ Justin

“You need to fix your grip on squat. That’s all I can say without seeing it.”

Yeah, i figured there must be a problem somewhere there, as it tweaks it when i get up to the work sets.

Possibly taking some of the weight on my arms, instead of just on the shoulders. I thought i had the grip ok, but i’ll have to send in a video.

  4. @Gregor

I have stretch marks on my inner thighs and in my arm pits that go from my chest around to my arms. I’ve gained about 30 pounds on the 70s Big program form 170ish – 200ish in several months. My arm stretch marks have gotten bad lately, but I am incorporated more pressing and benching due to a bench press competition a couple months ago.

  5. I work for a PD in northern CA doing 12.5 hr shifts primarily on fri-sun. A set workout schedule routine is very rare for me and often only get 2 barbell workouts in. Im sure there’s others with similar schedules or anyone with shift work gigs knows my plight!! What kind of routine works for you guys? My two month program comes to an end this month and I need new ideas!

  6. PR’s this week:

    SQ: 320x3x5
    BP: 205x3x5
    DL: 375×5
    PC: 180x5x3

Finally got 3 plates for sets.

I think I might have needed up my foot pretty bad this morning in my soccer game. I’m debating on going to the ER, but I’m afraid to hear what they may say. I’m pretty good a handling pain but this is a 8 on the pain scale.

  7. Re Atlas Shrugged

It’s a hefty read and it does take a long time to get going. If you want a more accessible Ayn Rand book try “The Fountainhead”

It’s like Atlas Shrugged Lite but you’ll get the gist of her philosophy and if you enjoy it then you’ll want to read Atlas Shrugged.

    Oh yeah, nice squats guys!
