Did some RDL’s yesterday. Question: I always see these prescribed as “% of clean” ranging from 80-100 I think. I did them 3×3 at 100% and they were basically easy to the point of not really doing anything. Would you recommend going heavy on this exercise, or is it more of a form thing? (pretty sure I know the answer, but doesn’t hurt to ask I guess)
100% is a 1 rep max (1RM). If you did 100%, then you wouldn’t be able to do it for more than one rep. And the answer depends on the program and purpose.

Feeling okay this week, except for my right wrist has been bothering me on everything except bench. Interfered with push presses and front squats, need to drill my technique more.
Energy level’s also kinda low, been eating clean paleo, need to get more carbs in to fuel the lifting. Hopefully will be feeling better next week.
Lowes Pr- Went into Lowes to pick up a 32ft ladder I’d ordered. Guy wheels it out to me and gives me the receipt. I casually grab it, pop it over my head, and walk out the door. On the way out I heard a guy go “Now THAT’s how you carry a ladder.”

Bench and press feel like they’re regressing.
For the past month or so, when I lockout my bench press, I feel incredible soreness in my triceps (whether it’s a warm up or a workset). My wife felt them and said they felt like like ‘gummy worms’. Then she said it was gross.

That’s okay. I’m envious of his ability to make his glutes sore doing squats(good glute activation)
I really have a hard time with the glute activation thing. I think that may be causing my hip flexor issues.
Any suggestions on improving glute activation during squats?

How do I program Olympic “Skill Transfer” exercises into a workout?
Do I do lifts like the Snatch Balance, Overhead Squats, and Front Squats, etc. before or after I do full cleans and full snatch? Or do I make them part of a separate workout altogether?
Tuesday was the first time I’ve cried after my last set of squats. Got really pumped up, eyes were watering beforehand, and all that built-up energy just got the better of me!
Oh, and I got a 103.5kgx5x3 bench press PR.

Deadlift: 3x2x240lbs – I guess that’s a PR of some sort at that rep scheme because I know I’ve never pulled more than a single at 240lbs.
I guess the better news is that I worked my split jerk with my Oly coach today, and I did finally manage to hit some reps without looking like a total asshole. The cue “drive your crotch straight down” seemed to work well for me. I am still puzzled as to how I can strict press 95lbs without a problem, but if you tell me to jerk it, I start sucking big time. My coach said, “You have the snatch and clean of an 8th grader and the jerk of a 2nd grader.” There are so many ways to interpret that quote.
And, the best news is, I’ma get fat for sure. Dude, I am solidly 145lbs. Not only are my thighs bigger, but I fucking have tits again. This really happened overnight. I keep feeling myself up. It’s kind of fun.
And, it’s my birthday next week, so if anyone wants to buy me some iron, that would be AWESOME. Because I only have 230lbs of bumper plates at home and my deadlift is getting too big for that shit. And, you know I can’t deadlift at the gym unless I want to do 21-15-9 with 155lbs because it’s CrossFit, and they won’t let me wear a belt.

Protos we used bearing races for the plate stops. From now on we are using 2.5OD 2.0ID DOM in 1/2″ strips for plate stoppers. 2″ ERW tubing and 1.25″ DOM handles.

well… we lost our game a few hours ago. i’m not going to party or anything. it was the first round of the playoffs. i’m going next year to community college and hopefully rip shit up there and move to a bigger school. i’m at 6’0 180lbs, i got a lot weaker. i can squat like 235x3x5, bench 155x3x5, deadlift 255 1×5, power clean 145 5×3 and press 105 3×5.
how do you recommend to start the off season? in college i wanna play middle linebacker as i’m at an almost ideal size to play it(height wise).
my priorities are:
skill – just increase linebacker awareness
strength and weight – nuff said, next year i wanna be 6’1 220, not fat please.
lateral speed – this is mostly footwork and is very affected by skill, but yeah, lateral speed- change of direction.
straight ahead speed – i’m pretty gifted as far as the first 10 yards go so it’s my last priority.
If you want to be a good middle linebacker, you’ll need to squat much more than that. Your strength will have to increase tremendously. Spend this winter lifting. Come spring time you can improve your footwork, body position, and technique, but it is irrelevant if you’re weak.

skills-racquetball, handball (lateral movement, reaction time, awareness), martial arts for handfighting (critical for shedding big fat guards and centers)…watch film–ask the coach at the CC you’re going to play at to loan you some or go there in the offseason and watch it with the position coach if possible…understand the defenses they play, the MLB calls etc. Not much else you can do without actually strapping the pads on.
Strength and weight–sounds like you’re doing the right things…keep coming here. Eat lots of meat and then eat some more.
Lateral speed–shuttles of all kinds 10yd, 20yd, and up in distance. Game simulation react and explode, drops into coverage etc. Become the fastest guy for 10 yards in all directions.

I did something (maybe a muscle tear) 2 weeks ago and the doctor told me that I could still workout as long as it was light for the next 3 weeks. I figured that term was relative and have been keeping my lifting around 75% of my max or less. So I’ve been doing more reps lately and did 225lbs for 10 reps for bench press. I think I will get 300lbs once I go back to lifting heavy.

Actually I don’t agree. If the videos are down they are down for a reason.
