It’s true. Everyone isn’t a genetic freak so you have to work hard for your strength and muscle gains. You have to put in the time, do the work, and eat right. Sometimes “eating right” means “eating lots”. Can you dig it?
Here is the shopping list that Harrison (5’9″, 185, up from 160) and his roommate used when they shopped at Costco recently. He said it’ll last them about a week.
32 chicken breasts
5 ribeye steaks
4 pounds of ground beef
4 packs of bacon
Pork spare ribs
126 eggs
Wheat Bread
Huge bag of frozen vegetables
Almond Butter
Fish Oil
Glucosamine
Alieve
Whey
Fresh Spinach
Huge bag of carrots
Huge bag of walnuts
Fresh asparagus
Many gallons of whole milk
Many fruits (apples, oranges, bannanas, strawberries, peaches, pineapple)
Teeth Whitening Strips (gotta stay pretty)
Case of beer because we ran out of home brew ale (gotta stay happy)

In related news, Michael e-mailed me about someone throwing down a challenge at work. Since he was the only “Man” in the department (only guy above 200 lbs.), he kindly obliged to attack The Whopper Challenge.
The Whopper Challenge consists of a Triple Whopper, Double Whopper, Single Whopper, and Whopper Jr. in one sitting. There is an hour time limit, but Michael shrugged that off (Brent told him to) and finished in a smug 17 minutes. The meal netted Michael around 3100 calories. Anybody want to challenge his time?

Sunday I ordered 3 pizzas…for myself.
Last night before bed I ate four double-cheeseburgers from McDonald’s followed by a whole carton of Ben & Jerry’s ice cream.

Love that one. A couple weeks ago on the way to a wedding my wife and I went through McDonalds Drive through for a “snack”. I got 4 double cheeseburgers, the wife was amused. I then proceeded to house the buffet table at the wedding. Gotta love it!

I’ve been doing a lot of Chicken shakes as of late. It’s a good way to get your protein down without feeling full or taking too much time eating. Just put two or three grilled chicken breasts in a blender, add some water, and blend for about 40 seconds. Sounds nasty but it tastes like soup.
That does sound nasty. I wonder what they had done prior to that squat set, because Corney was only squatting 315.

We love Costco, just not checking out and spending 200-350 dollars per trip!

Does anyone know if there is a way to figure out what strength/conditioning programs the various NFL and NCAA football teams use? I’m just curious. It would be interesting to see if there is any correlation to winning percentage/injury rates.
What do you mean what programs they use? The individual coaches create the program.

7000 calories/day for the last couple weeks of my weight gain to go from 120 @ 5’6″ to 180. Staying here till next year because I’m gonna break the national 82.5kg powerlifting records in december.
If I can get my friends to agree to this challenge, I will no doubt do it (deal will probably be that they pay if/when I complete). Shouldn’t be much of an issue (time limit could present a challenge, however).
That grocery list is colossal, the 7 dozen eggs is incredibly frightening to me…the meat sounds beyond amazing though. How much did it all run you?

2 gallons of milk in one day, record of 8.1k calories in one day.
@Domjo, The first 20 were over 4 months, when I wasn’t eating nearly enough, but the other 40 took 2 months.

Ever since my wife and kids moved back to Texas I have not been eating as good as I can. I still train 3 times a week just because it’s a great stress reliever. I needed to read this post, it’s very timely. After reading this and the responses by the other dudes I realize that I’m really not making any sacrifices at all. I appreciate you all for motivating me and helping me realize that there are others out there that have similar goals. Justin, I am renewing my commitment today to earn the title, 70’s Big. Thanks guys for motivating me!!
