An e-mail from Micah, who just experienced his last day of high school:

Well Justin,
Right now i am on the path to being 70sbig. Right now I am 5’10” weighing in at 215. But anyways today was my last day of high school and at the water day party all i did was overhead press girls and then throw them in pools. Needless to say giggles and numbers ensued, and a lot of questions of why are you so strong? None of the 90’ssmall 6 packers were able to lift two girls at the same time. Yes being 70s big has many many perks.

Here is a video of Colton finishing his linear progression. In August he was 120 pounds. Now he is 175 pounds. His squat went from 95 lbs to 275x5x3. Here is the second set (you can see the other sets on my YouTube page):

A couple years ago I spotted him on bench when he did 405 for a single (decent bounce, but we are more edumicated now).

    Wife is out of town so I had to cut my workout one set short to pick up the kids.

    Definately the high point of the week. Is it bad that I really enjoyed seeing people do a double take at the 4 plates?

    Deadlifted 405 x 5 again this week and it was much easier than last week and no pain so I’ll go up next week.

  4. Did a 160 kg Deadlift at 70 kg BW. Last Deadlift training was 5-6 months ago and previous PR was 140 kg at the same BW. O-lifting and squatting makes the back pretty strong.

    day 1-chest/tri
    day 2-back/bi
    day 3-legs/shoulders/abs
    day 4-off
    repeat
    ?

  7. No PR’s this week. Light training week. My girlfriend graduated at the top of her Nursing class plus got a leadership award so I went to 3 ceremonies this week. (mon-wed-fri, go figure)

    Justin you look big as hell man, how much do you weigh?

  8. An easy set of 9 on the 95# bench for the May challenge is a HUGE PR! I didn’t trust my spotter at all so I didn’t really want to try for the 10, an hour later I’m regretting that choice. But I thought I’d be lucky to get 3 reps, 9 was so exciting some stranger asked me what got me so excited :)

    Also, Rygor, I want to train with your wife- she sound sexy as hell!
    And Robbie- I worked really hard to put on 15# earlier this year. It’s tough, and sometimes pretty unpleasant, but you can do it (milk, milk and more milk). Good luck to you, it sounds like you’re kicking butt!

    4 medium size steaks, 1 large chicken breast, leg and wing, a plateful of salmon and pineapple, spinach, a couple shrimp, tried a raw mussel, had 4 glasses of milk two slices of pie and a slice of cheesecake.

    Squats looked good. Wife beater, not so much.

    Feel that little pause halfway up? That’s you barely lifting your chest. If you eliminate that, then you’ll have a bit more left in you. Nice work, though (especially with that eating, good gods).

  10. Hey Justin,
    the meet results page for the Texas State meet your lifters competed in last month won’t work. I was just curious of how Dr. Kilgore did at the meet?

    I don’t know what his exact lifts were, but he went 8 of 9 and every single lift he did was a national raw record for USAPL (so he set 8 records). They are probably counted as state records too.

  11. Week 5 of linear strength progression, got a loong way to go.

    BS: 245x3x5
    SP: 115x3x5- Tied all time PR, for work sets.
    DL: 335x1x5- still light, but getting there.

    BW:194, boo. Stalled the weight loss I had last week, desperately trying to eat more. Getting my protein every day, but need more. Stupid milk allergy.

  12. 5’8”, 184, about 5 weeks following SS properly. Rows instead of cleans though.

    Squat: 3 x 5 x 237.5 (after a workout lifting with a 5 pounds lighter bar by mistake, I increased by 7.5 easily)

    Benchpress: 3 x 5 x 160

    … bb rows: 3 x 5 x 155, did like x8 on the last set and nearly broke my ribs. Must be creatine because 150 was tough last workout.

    And earlier:
    Press: 3 x 5 x 107.5 (wrong bar grrr, but that’s when I realized it was lighter because this was too easy)

    Deadlift: 1 x 2-3 x 295, 2 x 1 x 285, a huge FAIL.

    But now I think I wrecked my knee either squatting or on the threadmill for a sprint. It didn’t hurt at the gym but I woke up in pretty bad pain. Hope it’s still good for squatting Monday.

At a memorial golf tournament over the weekend… the 9th hole arived where we all stopped for lunch, i had eatin 3 hotdogs with buns and 4 1/4 cheese burgers.. and chased it with 2 light beers (i know… i know…)… a few hrs later 1/2 drunk, hungry and sun burnt, i ate an additional 3/4 lb bbacon cheeseburgerand cheese fry…

    Totals – Hotdogs- 3
    1/4 lb burgers – 7
    beers – ~ 10
    Inhibitions – 0
