Reading is cool

Been reading more lately. So far I am digging through “American Psycho”, “Man’s Search for Meaning”, and “The First Law” series. American Psycho is a fantastic read. If you like the movie, then you will definitely like the book. It is more detailed and vivid picture of the grotesque human Patrick Bateman really is. I honestly stopped reading it for a while because, much like how movies/music can influence your attitude, I started to develop a similar attitude as the main character. It was creepy.

” . . . That is . . . if you’re not doing anything?”

It’s also funnier/more entertaining to have that image of Christian Bale as Patrick Bateman.

“Man’s Search for Meaning” is an interesting read as well. It’s a short book. Only about 150 pages. I haven’t gotten into the authors “Logotherapy” section yet, but I have been told it’s incredibly interesting. It’s basically about a guy in a concentration camp who more talked about the mental aspects of prison life vs. what actually happened. A lesson in how to deal with events in your life

The First Law series is badass. Not too deep into it, but it’s intense. The main guys name is Logen “Fuckin” Ninefingers. I added the “Fuckin” for effect.

In training news, I tried to pull 600 today. Got it ABOVE MY FUCKING KNEE and I couldn’t lock it out. I think it crept outward and thats where I lost it. Not too shabby for being all over the place with my training. Not a lot of direction as of right now. Wish I had bigger hands.

  1. I heard the book was a laugh riot. My wife is an avid horror/zombie/serial killer movie watcher and said that portions were so bad it made her dry heave. So naturally I kinda want to read it too.

    Nice pulling. Any job hits?

    She said the movie was was hard to watch? Most of the time the hiring takes place more towards July, so nothing yet 🙁

    • She did fine with the movie (insert midcoitus bicep flex here) but said the book was way, way worse. BRB I have to return some videotapes.

      The book is 100X worse. More detail. More events. It puts the movie to shame. I love it though. I can handle the violence, but not the sex for some reason.

      • Yeah, her issue was how the character would go from the intensely sexual stuff and into a fugue state and all of a sudden the gal is dismembered and shit. That would wig anyone with the semblance of a heart or soul right the fuck out.

        Oh hey, I think I’ve almost got my squat problems fixed. Just need to sit back a little more. Vid here. I deloaded to about 50% of my 1RM from my run on WSB, and am going to LP up for a couple months before I get back on WSB. Thanks for all your help with getting my lifts straightened out, I really appreciate it man.

  2. Man’s Search for Meaning is amazing. It got me into more psychological/philosophical books after I finished that in a couple days. If you haven’t read any Alan Watts, I recommend that afterwards. More philosophical, but similar stuff on how to deal with life.

    Got any books to recommend from that author?

    • The only one I’ve read in full is “The Wisdom of Insecurity”, which is damn good. He has a TON of full lectures on youtube though that I throw on my music player and listen to when I’m walking to class. Pretty much everything by him has been good in my experience.

  3. I’ve never read American Psycho. I’ll have to check it out.

    Not sure what your take on military books are, but if you get the chance read Lone Survivor by Marcus Luttrell. Pretty quick read, awesome book. I’ve heard Unbroken by Laura Hillenbrand is awesome also.

    So are you back to your previous program lifting wise? Or are you still incorporating in some higher rep stuff?

    It’s a good read. I doubt I’d be into military books. I’ve had several friends join/serve and honestly I hate hearing the same stories over and over. I am back to my original programming. Gonna ride it out with a few adjustments to see where that gets me.

    • 10-4. Can you elaborate on the adjustments?

      I’m getting ready to get back to it (been on a conditioning/reduced calorie cycle). I’m so ready to start pounding the weights/food/tons of dbol.

      Im doing some basic microcycling stuff. Little changes in volume/intensity every 4-6 weeks. I can go into more detail if you’d like. Dbol sounds like a plan, man. Make sure you take the right dose.

        I’m basically taking more priority in de-loads every 4-5 weeks. I am also cycling my accessory stuff from heavy to medium to light every 4 weeks. Trying to make the whole shabang more periodized basically.

    lol I am still playing, yes. What’s your user account again? I deleted everyone when I got back on recently (was off for a few months) because I didn’t know who was who anymore.
