Skyfall

Gigi says: I know it’s been talked about before on here, but I am looking to buy some weightlifting shoes for the first time, and I was hoping to get some helpful comment/reviews. I have looked at the VS, Risto, Pendlay, and Adidas versions. Leaning toward the first 3; any advice would be appreciated!

I personally own VS’s. They have been with me for around 3 years. The quality is amazing. It’s the only weightlifting shoe I have ever had so I don’t know how others feel. I just know that VS’s stick around. Hopefully someone else with other shoes can have some input too.

O and FYI Skyfall sucked a huge rod. It was corny, boring, and lame. The gritty action and “real” fight scenes are what brought the new bond films into the spotlight again and Skyfall fails to do this. It is more reminiscent of the old bond films, which were cool, but cheesy as shit. That style of film doesn’t really work anymore. I expected some sweet ass brutal fighting and got one or two short scenes. Those scenes were awesome and they should have set the tone for the rest of the movie, but it was 163 minutes too long.

  1. I have owned the BAF (available at Quest) and the Adidas powerlift($90). They are both great shoes, I prefer the Adidas because I have a narrow foot and they fit better. If you have a wide foot stay away from Adidas.

Remember apparel does not make the athlete. Usain Bolt with smoke your ass barefoot and Tiger Woods will destroy you with a mini golf putter!

I saw ARGO, enjoyed it. I am a big fan of Docuramas so it fit me. If you are looking for action packed, not your flick.

Thanks for the shoe input. Argo isn’t my style of movie. I heard it was fantastic though.

    • I second that, I bought my adidas too small, but I was able to make them fit by just walking. If you want to order an adidas you probably need a size bigger than your usual shoe size. And it helps to go to a store and try on a pair of adidas shoes they are the same fit.

  2. Stream of thought consciousness, go!

Well that’s disappointing on the Skyfall front. That’s some pretty good benching. VS are some good shoes. I’ve had mine three years as well. I like burritos.

lol yes . . . burritos . . . It was just bland for me. Real predictable.

  3. Yo AC, I have not seen the new Bond movie, but I am a huge Bond fan. In terms of Daniel Craig movies, Casino Royale was awesome and Quantum was…. not. I will report back when I have seen it. I have heard only good things from friends so I am very curious to see how it stacks up. What did you think of Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace?

I love Casino Royale and Quantum was ok. Skyfall was essentially the plot from The Dark Knight. It was waaay to predictable and corny.

  4. As far as shoes I’ll throw in my 2 bits…I have the 2012 Rogue Do Wins and I really like them, albeit this is my first weightlifting shoe so this review my be pointless.

I ordered them the same size as my New Balance running shoe and they fit great and so far have been awesome. They’re holding up well and the dual metatarsal straps are titties.

also…i can’t f’ing wait for these movie quotes.

  5. I’ve been wearing Rogue Do Wins for 2 years. I bought a half size smaller than my other shoes, and they work just fine for me.

AC: I finally got my 200lb press- partially thanks to your tips and cues. Also, strong work on that bench. Strong people like you inspire me to get stronger- for real.

I am happy to have helped in some sort of way. Thanks man I appreciate it. Whats your next Press goal?

    • 225 seems like the obvious and practical choice. I’ve been enjoying my bench gains using Justin’s recommendations for powerlifting focus on the TM, but I think The Press will need some dedicated attention in the future.

  6. Adele did the theme music. Are you really surprised that it sucked?

Also on the shoe tip I have been pleased with the Rogue Do Wins as well, though I think I have the 2010s (I got them on a forum somewhere for $40).

    You make a great point

  7. Disappointed in the quality and construction of my Risto Sports white thunders. Mine began to crack and tear after a month and Risto refused to help. My training partner purchased a pair of Adidas Power Lifts at the same time and they still show very little wear.

    • Also, Risto’s aren’t sized correctly and I believe they still charge for a restocking fee if you decide to exchange them.

Sounds like you picked the wrong shoe man. Thats real shit of the company to charge for that.
