  1. Hey Mike,

Justin said you’d be the best one to ask about what hotel the core 70′s Big crew is staying at for The Arnold. Where are you guys staying? The Marriott listed on the site for the event?

DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Columbus – Worthington- Mike

  2. Do you try to improve push press just for general strength purposes or do you find it carries over well to bench? It only now occurred to me that heavy push presses would probably be great triceps assistance. I’ve been doing CGBP after bench on upper intensity day but am thinking of trying PP for awhile.

I’m not sure it has as much of a carryover to the bench as close grip benching does, but it certainly has a place in programming for intermediate lifters. I personally push press because even with a slight knee bend, I can put considerably more weight overhead. So I think the ability to put more weight overhead, strengthen the musculature of your shoulders, and strengthen your triceps is why I do them. Also, very little of the pressing done in strongman is strict. You can push press, jerk, etc. Just getting the weight locked out is the goal, not the how necessarily. I would try either alternating close grip and push press, or adding a couple triples of push press after benching and close gripping.-Mike
