Polls

A while back we had some demographic polls to find out that 70’s Big was a big fucking sausage fest. Hopefully it isn’t…as much. In any case, partake in the polls. If you have any suggestions for today’s group of polls, put them in the comments.

Real sports are ‘competitions’. CF is not a sport and therefore does not qualify as ‘competition’ for this poll.

  1. Am I the only one having issues loading the first 4 polls? The rest worked.

They should be fixed now. The first five minutes that the post was up they were closed, but I opened them.

  2. @KittenSmash

    Math is hard, especially inequalities

    Adult Males > 200 lbs : what?

I had a buddy go for 305 with two plates and a 35 on each side two days in a row. After the first day of me telling him that was only 295.

  3. I compete in rugby. My strength gains translate directly to improved performance on the field. I don’t think I’m a fool for having zero interest in competitive weightlifting.

I would say that Rugby is competition (fierce at that), so you’re good, my man.

  4. theres a large range between 151 and 199lbs.

Also I voted “intermediate” for programming, although its an intermediate o-lifting program, not sure if it applies.

You’re right, I should have been more specific between 151 and 199. At least 185 to 199.

  5. I’m in the same boat as a.k . I’m a fool because I don’t compete in lifting, only rugby? Just curious/echoing, you make the rules, not me.

Competitions = sports. So you guys are good. I’ll make this distinction clear in subsequent posts. CrossFit competitions are not a sport, therefore not included.

  6. I was also confused when I voted in the adult male poll, then saw the vast amount of 151-199 people who said that they were adult males.

Also surprising how few people keep online logs, I find it much better than a pen and paper log.

  7. Online logs stink. I can’t remember shit once I leave the gym. I carry my notebook right to the squat rack with me and write down everything.

And I’m all for counting competitive sports as competitions if there’s a vote to be held on that.

  8. Since I don’t compete in any sports anymore (besides the occassional pick up basketball, football, wiffle ball, softball, ect game)so I chose “none, but plan on competing soon” in regards to powerlifting.

Last time I took the survey I wasn’t an adult male. Yay.

  9. As a 5’8″ adult male I have been giving thought to losing my status. I have considered going down to 185 and cutting weight to 178 for Judo and 181 with a gi for bjj. In the past couple tourneys I have been in the under 220 class and it’s not to say I have had a problem with strength but I just thought it might be easier with guys my own height. Someone talk some sense into me.

  10. I regretfully admit that I was required to click the ‘boy’ option as i have yet reached Adult Male status of 200lbs which is a sincere Goal. Expect that answer to change fairly soon.

  11. Quintin: I roll too.
Blue Belt -167.5lbs. Pura BJJ(Mendes/ATOS) You?

I hear you on the height/weight thing. I’m 5’6. When guys cut weight there is a big height difference. Fortunately, my game is predicated on victimizing tall people.

From what I am reading here, sounds like I can include my BJJ tourneys as competing?

Negative one for the fool category.

Probably because we can’t bring the online log into the gym. That’s real handy for intermediates who are able to set PRs every time they return to the same rep range and exericse but there’s too much stuff (exercises, 1rm,2rm,3rm,5rm, 10rm) to remember it all.

  13. i was 205 before crossfit, went down to 181 doing crossfit and paleo. now eating with reckless abandon and doing the 70’s big program. i’m back up to 192 and having a lot more fun doing this.

  14. How much do you weigh in pounds (males)?
    151 – 199 (36%, 380 Votes)

    this is not good….

In some of their defense, I didn’t break it apart. I should have had a 185 – 199 category for the shorter guys/competitors.
